Minutes of Snohomish County Gay Men's Task Force Meeting - February 5, 2008
by John Marsh, last time

Stephanie, the office secretary who has printed the Gayzettes and address labels, will work for the Health District just until Feb. 13. Kelly will be the office contact after that time.

Lifelong AIDS Alliance now has offices in Everett, at Wall and Rucker, with office times of 8:30-5:00 M-W and F.

We received a $25 check from Lee V. to help defray postage costs for the newsletter, The Everett Gayzette. John will write him a thank you note.

Links and Alliances organizers sent us a thank you certificate for the support we gave them last October.

Lambda Legal sent us two magazines with information about their services.

We began January with $3184.51. We sent $450 to the SGN for advertising. A deposit of $280 was made from the volunteer work at the Everett Events Center, and a deposit of $136.66 was made very belatedly from bowling proceeds several months ago. So we ended the month with $3151.17. At the meeting, Brian got a check to reimburse him for $71.09 he spent for the Stag Quilting Club.

The budget committee met in Jan. and presented their budget for 2008. Changes included a decrease in postage and mailing dots for the Gayzette, and an increase in spending on social events. Other expenses were pretty much continuations from last year. We discussed the changes, and decided to table the approval of the budget until next month. For exact details, contact me.

Paul will write a report about the 2007 audit for us and the Gayzette.

We went over the social calendar for February, emphasizing the 17th, when we go to West Seattle for bowling, and then go to Micah's Celebration of Life at the Northgate Community Center at 2:00 on the way home.

The Court is having two big events this month: on the 9th, the King and Queen of Hearts Pageant, and on the 23rd, the College of Monarchs Show, both at the Castle Lounge. They are having a rummage sale on March 1-2 at the Castle parking lot. J.J. hopes to get the Court's $650 check for their part of the SGN ad to us in April or May, which works out fine for us.

Brian will organize a trip to Gay Bingo for April 12, getting a Queen's Table, which costs each player $30 ($10 more than for general seating, but we think it is worth it, with a meal, a drink, and more spacious seating included in the package.) We want to get 12 people to go.

Nominations for chair and secretary were closed, and John was voted in as the new chair (this is my last taking of the minutes), and Robert S. was voted in as secretary for a two-year term.

We decided that the West Seattle bowling should be free, sponsored by the Task Force.

We decided that the Gayzette would be mailed out this month and next month, then it would become available on line for everyone who has access to a computer and on line service. (Hence, the reduction in the budget for the office supplies since we will save a lot of money on postage stamps and mailing dots.) E-mail reminders will go out to people who have given us their e-mail addresses as to when the newest Gayzette is on line.

We discussed adding a request for donations in the Gayzette for the Task Force. And we will add a list of where people can pick up a copy of the newsletter: the Health District, the Castle, and Lovers.

Planning ahead a little: in March the Seattle Men's Chorus will have a world-traveling concert in Edmonds on the 15th, with Rick Steves, and the same concert at McCaw Hall on the 29th. The Whole Shebang fundraiser for the Pink Prom and the Day of Silence (for highschoolers) will be held on the 22nd at the Everett Community College.

Contact Robert S., SCGMTF secretary with any questions or comments.
